This program is committed to excellence, which is why it has the best practices, as in the most important cardio-pediatric centers in the world, and has the most advanced technology to perform surgeries of the highest complexity and quality.

The following components of the program have yielded extraordinary results in both centers:

1. Equipo Médico Dedicado.

4. Alianza con un centro de talla internacional.

2. Volumen de pacientes.

5. Compromiso con transparencia.

3. Complejidad de casos.

6. Infraestructura de alta tecnología dedicada.

Full-time dedicated medical team

Kardias Program patients are managed by a multidisciplinary team of specialists in pediatric cardiology, echocardiography, hemodynamics, electrophysiology, pediatric cardiovascular surgery, pediatric intensive medicine specialized in cardiovascular care, as well as nursing, psychology, social work and medical assistance personnel. Each case, both surgical and interventional, is discussed in a medical / surgical session to offer the best possible treatment to the patient.

Volume of patients

Having hospital centers capable of treating a high number of patients annually allows the development of the necessary and optimal experience and knowledge in the group of health professionals involved in the care of patients. Kardias has enabled the only hybrid program for the care of patients with congenital heart disease in Mexico, thanks to the alliance with public and private sector hospitals. That is why this program serves more than 250 patients per year, which has generated a great experience in the team, and achieve very low mortality rates, comparable to those of the best pediatric cardiology centers in the world.

Case complexity

The Kardias program is for patients with congenital heart disease ofall complexities. For the simplest and most common, such as Interventricular Communication (VSD), Interatrial Communication (ASD), and Persistence of the Ductus Arteriose (PCA), results have been maintained with practically no mortality and very short hospital stay times . In those of greater complexity such as the complete AV canal, the transposition of the great vessels, the correction of the hypoplasia of the aortic arch, or the Glenn and Fontan procedures for the management of the univentricular heart, it has also been possible to maintain low mortalities and superior results to those of any other unit in Mexico.

And for those much more complex heart diseases, such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome and other forms of univentricular heart, treated with surgeries such as the Norwood procedure or the Damus / Kaye / Stansel procedure, and for other very complex ones treated in the neonatal stage, the multidisciplinary medical group of the Kardias Program has been the only one in Mexico with consistently favorable results.

Alliance with an internationally recognized center

To achieve the highest standards in the quality of care for its patients, the program has a academic alliance with Texas Children's Hospital (TCH), ranked as the best high specialty center in pediatric cardiology in the United States.

This has allowed us to institute visit passes in conjunction with the physicians responsible for the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit of the TCH, through sessions of a teleconference system, as well as the discussion of management strategies for the most complex cases. In addition, there is a continuous training program for the multidisciplinary team abroad through rotations and constant training.

Commitment to transparency

The Kardias Program is the only one in Mexico with audited medical-surgical results. For eight years the program has participated in the International Quality Improvement Collaborative (IQIC), a database managed by Boston Children's Hospital, a tool that has been essential to carry out strict quality controls. We also participate in other international projects focused on information transparency, such as the “ICHOM” (International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement) and the World Database for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WDPCHS).

Dedicated high-tech infrastructure

The Kardias Program offers for its patients the best facilities in two highly specialized hospital centers. Adding the installed capacity of both centers, this program has two exclusive operating rooms for pediatric cardiac surgery, one in each center; seven intensive care beds at the INP and five at the ABC-Kardias Pediatric Heart Center where, in addition, there are three intermediate care beds, a hemodynamics and electrophysiology room, as well as specialized and equipped offices for the diagnosis and care of diseases of the heart in pediatric patients.
